The Challenge

Traditional aerial firefighting relies on dangerous low-altitude 'dive-bombing' drops that stress aircraft wing boxes, limit operations to daylight and clear visibility, and restrict the mission to roughly 15 specialized airtankers nationwide. During major wildfire events, this capacity is quickly overwhelmed.

Our Solution

SaintX developed the Precision Aerial Container Delivery System (PCADS) — a new-generation High-Altitude Low-Opening (HALO) airdrop firefighting system designed to be generic across all airdrop-capable aircraft, including the C-17, C-130, C-390, A400M, C-27, CN295, V-22, CH-47, and CH-53. Using GPS for precision drops, PCADS eliminates low-altitude tactics, alleviates airframe stress, and enables 24/7 operations — including nighttime, high winds, and smoke-obscured, low-visibility conditions.

PCADS in the Air — and on the Floor

One mission cycle end to end — retardant loaded into the containers, palletised on the flight line, rigged in the cargo bay, and released over the fire.

/Filling a unit through the top port. The corrugated outer case takes the handling load while the welded liner carries the retardant, and the whole assembly stays inside the same footprint the aircraft already carries.
/Loads staged on the ramp with extraction lines already rigged, a Força Aérea Portuguesa C-130 waiting behind them. Weather that would ground a conventional dive-bombing tanker is not a factor for a high-altitude release.
/Two sticks on the roller floor, restrained and lined up on the rails. Loading uses the aircraft's standard airdrop provisions, which is the whole point — no tank, no gate, no aircraft modification.
